How to prepare

We look forward to welcoming you to the University of Iowa! Registration for Becoming a Hawkeye Programs is available through your Admissions Profile on MyUI. Check your Iowa email for confirmation of your program date. Parking and lunch are provided for all attendees at the Becoming a Hawkeye Program. 

What to bring

Our program will move between several buildings and will be held rain or shine! Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring rain gear as necessary. The Orientation Leader staff is excited to answer your questions and prepare you to be a Hawkeye!

Transportation

Parking will be provided at the Iowa Memorial Union (IMU) parking ramp. Guests may walk from the IMU to Hancher Auditorium for check-in, or take a free campus shuttle. Please arrive in plenty of time to travel from the parking ramp to our welcome location (10-15 minute walk or bus ride). Orientation staff will help direct students and families. 

Schedule Overview

7:45 a.m. Bus routes begin running between Iowa Memorial Union Parking Ramp and Hancher Auditorium (Blue Route). 

**Please arrive early! It will take between 10 to 15 minutes to walk or take a bus from your parking spot in the Iowa Memorial Parking Ramp or North Campus Parking Ramp to Hancher Auditorium. There is no public parking at Hancher Auditorium.

9:50 a.m. Behind the Bill: Navigating the University Billing Process with Confidence; Hadley Stage, Hancher Auditorium

10:05 a.m. Break

10:20 a.m. Welcome Home: Housing and Dining at Iowa; Hadley Stage, Hancher Auditorium 

10:20 a.m. Off To a Good Start: Off-Campus Living in Your First Year at Iowa; Strauss Hall, Hancher Auditorium 

10:45 a.m. Student dismissal to lunch and small groups

Student and parent lunch and afternoon sessions held separately.

10:55 a.m. Parent Panel, Hadley Stage, Hancher Auditorium

11:00 a.m. Student lunch, Burge Marketplace

11:30 a.m Parent dismissal to lunch and breakout sessions

3:30 p.m. IVETS Welcome Session; Calvin Hall

3:30 p.m. Hawkeye Marching Band Auditions; Voxman Music Building (VOX)

3:30 p.m. First-Gen Hawks Information Session; Iowa Memorial Union
4:30 p.m. Becoming a Hawkeye Program concludes
