Position Summary

Orientation Leaders assist new students and their families with their transition to the University of Iowa. Duties include serving as a positive representative for the university, responding to questions about student life and resources at Iowa, assisting students with the registration techniques during summer orientation programs, and mentoring and supporting On Iowa! leaders during On Iowa!

Qualifications

-Current enrollment as a University of Iowa student

-Successful completion of a criminal background check and a student disciplinary records check

-24 semester hours or more earned by May 2024

-UI and Cumulative GPA of 2.5  (First year students must have a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher)

-Ability to work effectively with groups and individuals from diverse backgrounds

Expectations

-Enroll in LS:1017 Orientation Leader Training, scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00am-12:15pm during the spring semester

-Effectively maintain professional boundaries with new students

-Assist students and family members, displaying patience, concern, and openness

-Communicate effectively with a wide range of people

-Perform all responsibilities in a punctual, reliable, and conscientious manner

-Exercise mature judgment, good humor, flexibility and patience

-Remain committed to programs and your position
