An Interview with Nate...
What advice would you share with a new student about their first year at the University of Iowa?
Put yourself out there. When you have the mindset to challenge yourself and be uncomfortable, so many good tings will come out of it. This University has so much to offer. Also, find friends with your mindset and that will help you improve. Having a good friend group is key. They are your support and family while you're away from home. You will go through challenges but knowing that you have friends who are going through what you and motivating you to keep going will carry you through any of college's woes.
How would you define a “successful student” at the University of Iowa?
A successful student is one who may not achieve everything or all his goals that he has set for himself, but one that learns from the process he went in to in order to attain the goal. That in itself is more rewarding and will help you see even more success.
How did you decide on your major?
I was fortunate enough to have an idea of what I wanted to go into. I have a huge passions for sports and fitness. I at first wanted Kinesiology, but that major was not available here, so I went the route of Athletic Training. I knew I would get the same form of education and training that could help me for psychical therapy.
