An Interview with Naomi...
If you could go back in time, what might you have done differently in your first year at the University of Iowa?
If I could go back in time, I would be back to my first semester and get involved sooner. I remember struggling to feel like I truly belonged in any group, but once I started to spend more time with the people on my dorm floor and join various organizations, the University of Iowa truly became home.
How would you define a "successful student" at the University of Iowa?
A successful student at the University of Iowa will find a way to balance academics, student life, and personal health. Everyone prioritizes and balances these things differently so it's important to just do what feels right for you, without comparing yourself to other students while also accepting the fact that you are responsible for your actions and future success.
How did you decide on your major?
I went into the University of Iowa with an open major. It was hard not knowing what my goals were so I met with a career advisor at the Pomerantz Career Center. She helped me explore careers that best fit me and then explained what majors I could pursue in order to reach my newly established career goals.
