An Interview with Julian...
What advice would you share with a new student about their first year at the University of Iowa?
A piece of advice I have is to put yourself out there. If there is an organization that interests you, get involved! Meet as many new people as possible. Focus on coursework and ask for help when needed!
If you could go back in time, what might you have done differently in your first year at the University of Iowa?
If I could go back in time, I would change how I first approached my major. When I first came in, I thought I wanted to be a business major. After some soul searching and hardships in class, I realized the major wasn't for me. Looking back, I think now I would have came in as an open major.
How is college academics different than high school?
College academics is much harder than high school. In college, there is a limited number of chances to prove your performance in class. With only three exams, two papers, and some participation, it is much easier to get a failing grade in college than in high school.
