An Interview with Holly...

What advice would you share with a new student about their first year at the University of Iowa?

Get to know everyone you can! The person sitting next to you in class, the kid in the sauna at the rec center, whoever, it will make your experience the best it can be.

How is college academics different than high school?

College academics are highly vigorous and you have to be way more self sufficient and self motivated. You also have to be ready to truly learn how to think, not just memorize and regurgitate information.

How are you involved within the University of Iowa and/or greater Iowa City community?

I'm currently the president of my sorority, Delta Delta Delta, and a volunteer in the University Hospital Burn Unity and Outpatient Rehab Center. I'm also a member of the Pre-Physical Therapy Club and Campus Christian Fellowship. I've worked hard toward receiving honors recognition by participiating in the University Honors Program as well as the Honors Fraternity, Sigma Alpha Lambda. Furthermore, I try and do little things around Iowa City to support the community; for example, a community Easter egg hunt at the Field House, the National Eating Disorder Awareness Walk, and the Annual 5K to Kinnick Run.
