An Interview with Dan...
Describe your first semester at the University of Iowa. How did it align with your expectations before arriving to campus?
My first semester was fun and I met a lot of people. The size took some getting used to, but once you know where you are going, it's a fun place to go to school. I didn't have too many expectations, just taking it in as it came to me.
How are you involved within the University of Iowa and/or greater Iowa City community?
I would say pretty involved. I am the next General Manager for SCOPE. We put on concerts for the students here at Iowa and the greater Iowa City community. We work with the Englert Theater and other Iowa City music festivals to collaborate and find shows that we think the Iowa City community and the University students will enjoy.
A sense of independence comes along with being a college student. How did you handle your "independence"?
For me, it was being responsible. It is tough going from living at home with your parents, to living alone with hundreds of your peers. You have to remember, school is the #1 priority and finding that balance between schoolwork and a social life can be hard to work out right off the bat. But, there are resources here on campus that can help you if you are having a difficult time with it.
